Artist: Fatima Zafar

Q1- Can you tell me a little about you and your art?

FATIMA: My name is Fatima Zafar and i am from Karachi. Painting is not just a proffession for me it's an obsession and a hobby obviously. Painting and crafting are such good stress reliefs.

Q2- What is your style or medium of art?

FATIMA: I work on mandala, doodle, sketching, calligraphy, acrylic/oil painting and also do and sell craft work.

Q3- Should artist focus on one art medium?

FATIMA: Draw what you can do well, for the most part. All artists should expand and try to make art with other mediums and styles every once in a while, but for the most part do what you're good at, and you'll gain a following.

Q4- Are you self-taught or do you have formal training?

FATIMA: Here's something I'm really proud of. I'm a self-taught artist who didn't go to an art school of any kind. (though I sometimes wish I had just to be around other artists)

Q5- Do you think that today art is unappreciated?

FATIMA: No! I think art is more appreciated. Nowaday a layman understand the scope of fine art and people related to any kind of art field. I got appreciated by others a lot.

Q6- Who's your most favourite artist?

FATIMA: So many. But i don't follow anyone specifically.

Q7- Where would you say you gained most of your skills as an artist?

FATIMA: I was born Artist.

Q8- What are your tools of choice (medium, brands)?

FATIMA: For painting i use acrylics and oil colors from Maries. For mandala i use different materials.

Q9- How do you get ideas for each piece of art?

FATIMA: Sometimes from nature and sometimes ideas just jump off my mind.

Q10- Where did it all start? Is there a story behind how you became an artist.?

FATIMA: Started painting as a way to cope stress and disturbance in my life and it becomes stress reliever and a hobby as well for me. Hidden talent came out lol now Alhamdulillah i take part in exhibitions. Still a long way to go but I'm satisfied. I chose the name 'SULA' as my signature because it means 'PEACE'. And i found my peace in there.
