Monochromatic Artist.

ARTIST SUMRAH RASUL

Today we're pleased to introduce our monochromatic artist Sumrah Rasul. How many colors do you need to create art? Sometimes, just one. In this Q/A we'll explore what monochromatic art is and checkout Sumrah's work and thoughts about her art.

MONOCHROMATIC ART

When you ask people what they love most about paintings, one of the most commom responses is the color. But some artist, however, think differently. They seek to create the same kind of response by using only one color.

A monochrome painting is a work of art that consists of a single color. In fact, the word  monochrome literally means "single color". It's a diffrent approach to art but one that's used more widely than you might think.

Ok now we're moving on to our Q/A session.

Q1- Can you tell me a little about you and your art?

SUMRAH: I'm 21 and my name is Sumrah Rasul. I'm a medical student. Art is my passion. Tho I didn't get a chance to learn or study it properly in some institution but I learn from others as much I can. I made a sketching page few years back on Insta and I do take sketching orders. I mostly do faces and portraits and all monochrome. I hope I get better with time.

Q2- What is your style or medium of art?

SUMRAH: I draw on A4 mostly but for people  I do it on scholar sheet so that it's big enough to frame and hang on a wall.

Q3- Should artist focus on one art medium?

SUMRAH: Personally I want to try everything, ideally. but it's hard along with studies and stuff so I focus only on one. If someone can try more, they should.

Q4- Are you self taught or do you have formal training?

SUMRAH: Self taught.

Q5- Do you think that today art is unappreciated?

SUMRAH: Art is appreciated but not all artists are encouraged I must say😂

Q6- Who's your most fav artist?

SUMRAH: Pablo Picasso, Leonardo da Vinci

Q7- Why do you start making art and how?

SUMRAH: I was good at drawing and stuff from the very start. And my fellows appreciated it so I was  encouraged. So I kept on going, learned from others as well, tried to correct  my mistakes. As I mostly do portraits and my parents don't like it ( some religious believes) I sometimes shift towards still art. I do that pretty fine as well but I don't enjoy it. I like making portraits 😌

Q8- How long have you been creating artworks with pencil?

SUMRAH: As I said from childhood I was good at it. But I kinda started focusing on it about a few years ago. It's been two years since I got acceptably better at sketching.

Q9- What are your tools of choice (medium, brands)?

SUMRAH: As I only do monochrome all I need is black pencils. From 2H to 8B I use all with charcoal and sometimes I use black pointer  for dark effects. I draw on scholar sheet and A4.

Q10- What is the best way to get in touch with you Sumrah?

SUMRAH: I have Insta page dedicated to only art. You can contact me there.
It is: ultrasmartist

THANKYOU SO VERY MUCH SUMRAH FOR YOUR PRECIOUS TIME.
BEST OF LUCK.
